After having offered a modified Redding die to seat the 6XC bullet to attain better bullet concentricity since around 2005, I discovered that the modified Redding seater would also yield better runout with a host of other calibers.
The new 6XC PLUS seating die is the culmination of multiple caliber and bullet seating concentricity testing.
Along with internal design changes, the 6XC PLUS seating die also comes with 2 separate bullet seating stems (to be used depending on the bullet diameter of the cartridge being used). The use of 2 different seating stems allows the user to pick the seating stem which will yield the best bullet profile match as well as contact the seated bullet further down the nose (closer to the front ogive) so as to utilize the bullet’s more uniform diameter for improved loaded round runout.
The 6XC PLUS seating die is useable on virtually every .473” cartridge case head with a .308 or shorter body length.
How to adjust 6XC PLUS seating die: Adjustment of the height of the die (7/8” x 14tpi) while set up in the reloading head will need to be done based on the body length of the cartridge being seated. Put an empty resized case into the 6XC PLUS seating die with a loosened locking nut. Run the loading press ram up and screw the entire die down till it bottoms out on the empty case, then back entire die out 2-3 turns till the micrometer (fine) engraving is visible to the user. Adjust the micrometer adjustments so that you can seat your bullet the desire length. Watch the videos below for setup demonstration and features of the 6XC PLUS seating die.
Examples of some of the more common cartridges the 6XC PLUS seating die can accommodate are as follows: 22BR, 6mmBR, 6BRA, 6GT, 6.5x47, 6x47, 22XC, 6XC, 6mm Creedmoor, 243 Win, 6.5 Creedmoor, .260 Rem, .708, .308
